Pensive Lakes Northwest Territories 2021

There were two trips in summer 2021 as part of our partnership with Ayalik Fund: Each trip involved Inuit youth from Nunavut plus six Dene youth from the Deh Cho. Nunavut youth came from five different communities in Kitikmeot and Kivalliq. Trip leadership by Jackpine Paddle guid and owner/operator Dan Wong. The trips started at the top of the North Arm of Great Slave Lake, and travelled along the coast in among the myriad islands, south back to Yellowknife. The environmental and cultural programming included canoeing, paddling and camping skills instruction, self-confidence-building, the opportunity to learn from the land, become stronger as individuals, while making new friends and experiencing a cross-cultural exchange.
